Updated report on private-sector financing sources in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a focus on climate change.

1. Classification of actors (banks, investment funds, philanthropic organizations, etc.) according to the type of financing they provide (debt, equity, grants) and their role in the value chain, 2. Analysis of Instruments. Identification of the financial mechanisms used (loans, guarantees, green bonds, etc.) and investment criteria (size, portfolio, countries). 3. Preparation of a report updating the mapping of sources and actors (national, regional, and international) using the methodology from the previous study. 4. Inclusion of a specific chapter highlighting private financing sources from the European Union. 5. Development of two detailed case studies: one for a Latin American country and another for a Caribbean country. 6. Update an Excel-based data tool provided by GIZ with the collected information.

Goals

It will update and expand upon the report that maps private-sector funding sources, stakeholders, and investments in the Latin American and Caribbean region from national, regional, and international sources to help build a comprehensive information resource for accessing and mobilizing private-sector financing for climate change and subsequently inform and facilitate country-led collective action in the Latin American and Caribbean region regarding this sector’s engagement. The sectors prioritized for this initial mapping are renewable energy, urban mobility, and nature-based solutions.
